Finalist Farm Shop of the Year Award
National finalist: Meat Trade Journal 'Butcher's Counter of the Year'.
New Patisserie
Our locally made patisserie is going down a storm and pat is working on his own version of a Sacher Torte which is worth buying for it's looks alone. Watching him work it is like being in the presence of a master jeweller, the care he takes. We are sure that journeys will be broken if only to get more supplies of Patrick More's famous 'muddies'. We are now getting some cakes from taste! our food hall at Rheged. Look out for the carrot cake and treacle tart because they don't hang around.
More Cheese Anyone?
We are so lucky at the moment to have some many good local cheeses to select from. If you haven't tried the new cheeses from the Appleby Creamery please do so. Each one is hand made in small batches and from local milk. I particulary like the sheep and goats milk cheeses.
Last week I went down to the Real Food Festival in London and tasted some really excellent British cheese so I will see if I can get some in.
Sad News
We have learnt that Andrew Sharpe ( Farmer Sharpe) has stopped trading. Andrew has been a champion of the Herdwick breed and has been interviewed on both radio and televison about his passion for the meat that they give. He also created the air dried Herdwick lamb that we sold in the shop
